The Story of Benjarong
In the 13th century, the Thai Kingdom’s founder, Xing Ramkhamheang of Sukhothai, inscribed “Nai Nam Mee Pla- Nai Na Mee Kao” on stone, celebrating the abundance of food from waterways and rice fields. Thai cuisine’s peak development occurred around 100 years ago during King Rama V’s reign, emphasizing both flavors and visual appeal, known as “Royal Cuisine.
Thai food is a significant part of Thai culture, attracting international visitors. Dusit Thani, an early hotel, introduced “Benjarong,” a Thai restaurant showcasing traditional cuisine with exquisite Thai art décor, continuing our ancestors’ culinary traditions.
